Montecasino – South Africa’s premier entertainment destination is located in the heart of Fourways in Johannesburg, Malt Barrel & Fire is the coolest new place to be on the Montecasino restaurant scene, offering a true gastro pub experience with a varied and extensive food and beverage menu that puts the spotlight firmly on malts of every kind, from whisky to beer to milkshake.
Malt Barrel & Fire gets its name from the four fireplaces and four burning barrels that make it the perfect venue for chilly winter nights, while adding ambience in summer. The décor is stylish and comfortable, with wood and copper features, and soft lighting, which all add to the warmth of the restaurant.
The huge selection of malts includes 16 draught beers on tap, over 40 bottled beers from around the world; an ever-growing selection of more than 80 different whiskies – malts and blends, delicious and different cocktails for every occasion; spirits of all types; carefully selected wines.
Our favourites on the night were the firecracker ribs – Sweet BBQ pork or beef ribs basted with a lemon peri sauce and served with fries, which also feature as one of several ‘quick order items for Teatro patrons’. The menu includes breakfast items served until 11.30am, – Spatchcock chicken basted in peri-peri or lemon & herb and grilled in true Portuguese tradition served with fries; a range of popular Malt burgers; pizzas; grills; waffles & milkshakes; and desserts.
