How to make Apple tart - my granny's way

This week I’ve been feeling nostalgic because my gran pulled out the famous family album from my childhood and it made me miss her famous apple tart pudding, this apple tart is the best way to warm up any cold night. Best served with Ultra Mel or Nestle dessert cream.

What you’ll need

1 cup sugar

1 cup oil

4 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon essence (I prefer lemon)

2 cups self-raising flour

1 tin canned apples

1 bottle apple sauce

cinnamon (to sprinkle)

handful raisins

  1. Mix sugar and oil until the sugar dissolves
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, add essence
  3. Add flour and milk gradually
  4. Pour batter into greased pan
  5. Slice apples thinly and spread over mixture, layer it out
  6. Spread apple sauce over mixture and sprinkle raisins
  7. Bake apple tart for 30 minutes or until golden brown at 180° C
  8. When baked, slice the apple tart into squares while in pan, sprinkle with cinnamon while hot.
