Sweet chilli and chakalaka rubbed chicken

Never suffer from dinner dilemma ever again with this sweet chilli and chakalaka rubbed chicken.

What you’ll need:

6 wings

6 drumsticks

2 tablespoons crushed garlic

1/2 cup sweet chilli sauce

⅓ cup white vinegar

¼ cup brown sugar

1/2 cup apricot jam

3 tablespoons chakalaka spice

salt and pepper


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Place drumsticks in a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk water, crushed garlic, sweet chilli sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, apricot jam, salt and pepper together in a bowl. Rub chicken with chakalaka spice and pour mixture over drumsticks. Cover with foil.
  3. Place baking dish in preheated oven and bake until golden and no longer pink at the bone about 1 hour, turning chicken about halfway through.
